[..YouTube..] Also passing tones are notes you hit as you play but you never stop on them. They may actually be out of the key in which you are playing and may sound aweful if you stop on them. They may sound good but they are brief and then you quickly go on to a note that is actually in the key.
I could be wrong and if anybody knows better please let me know. I am learning myself.

Try working on chromatic scales (every note, every half step) up and back to work on laying the fingers down and pulling them up and getting a clean sound each time. Relax your fingers and try to keep the stress in your wrist down. You don’t want to be tense or using muscles that should not be involved. You will wear yourself out and get frustrated. Make sure you warm up with some really simple stuff.
