  2. [..YouTube..] Is it perfect? Hell no! No ONE can play that like Ed because no one is Ed. Period. This is one of rock’s most coveted idiosyncratic licks and only the creator can play-it-like-it-is. But, shit, I came damn close!!!! Ha!

  3. [..YouTube..] To address the “Samba” comment–you’re absolutely incorrect ;) To the address the “way too much distortion” comment–you bet your ass I did! Needed all the juice I can get to play with a light touch and keep up with what was required to play it.

  12. [..YouTube..] hat’s off to this guy, he’s broken it down until the meaning is lost…..
    Eddie played what he felt!….
Listen to the original and let it take you where Clapton took the master….and by his own admission Eddie cheated to fit his feeling to what he’d heard.
play what you feel, not what you learn, and we all may be blessed with an energy so rare again.

  21. [..YouTube..] The original beginning is in 5/4, explaining the original time signature would make the tune sound exactly like the original. The tapping is done in 4/4 to set up the songs groove. Good job on everything else though.

  24. [..YouTube..] First, a hat’s off to Chris for taking the time to figure this out and put it up…this stuff is way beyond Eruption in complexity harmoniclly speaking(LOL!)

VH-Eruption,Cathedral, Little Guitars and tops is off with this!Amazing. Does the electric drill thing with Van-Hagar sum up the last 20 years as far as his new stunt guitar ideas? But why does he not give Hendrix credit for being an innovator? Hendrix changed the way guitar was played every bit as much as hid did, that’s for sure.

  25. [..YouTube..] Hey man, thanks for the good words, but the 5/4 thing is just not correct–sorry. Check out Andy Aledort’s old-school transcription and my updated version, which is found in the same issue of Guitar One this video was linked to (May 2006 to be exact).

  32. [..YouTube..] Hey Chris, nice job. I get a kick out of the ass’s that try to be critical behind a computer screen and probably cant play much more than “Smoke on the water” or “Louie Louie”. I have the DVD and the mag. that this came from and have a ques about the tab.
In one section of the intro, the tab is writtem as 0(12)5 ascending across the fretboard, but it sounds like it should be written as 12(0)5.
Have a look and see if you know what I mean.

  33. [..YouTube..] Hey, man. Y’re not corret. It’s very simple. See you and see the record. It’s absolutly different. I readed the original record Fair warning in 16 RPM with my experient Drumer player. We have 23 years playng Van Halen. I’m a Brasilian fan. Come on, be modest, be humble. Try!!! In one compass >The star * is thumb and the exclamation ! is indicator thinger.
    !**!*!**!

  37. In a palm-hut encampment, members of an “uncontacted” Amazon tribe fire arrows at an airplane above the rain forest borderlands of Peru and Brazil. And just to clarify “uncontacted” means that they have never before had any contact with the outside world. Which means they have probably never read this blog – oh the horror!
