[..YouTube..] one more thing. im not sure what version ur playing, but the one ive been hearing sound different than ur verse riff. after the open E and 2nd fret A 6 times and the 1st fret A string part. right after that, there should be a 6th string palm muted 2nd fret then palm muted 3rd fret. instead of what u play- two more open E and 2nd fret A’s. just thought u should know that.

[..YouTube..] @DashH90Three. Yes right, best way to mute the E. Well use the Knife edge of your palm (side of hand) use the bone in there to get a sharper point and keep changing position till you get a nice sound palm muting E. Then test in A, etc.

In Mixed Martial Arts to carry out a Guillotine Choke, you again use the knife edge of your forearm to create the choke on the opponenets wind pipe/neck/head/anywhere i guess lol! same principle but use the knife edge of your hands bone to increase bite:)

Sorry–I’ve seen Metallica MANY times in the past and whenever they play(ed) Blackened, he downpicks the riffs. You can tell he does it on the record as well. Alternate picking sounds different than downpicking. If you actually play guitar and have an ear for music, you can tell the differences.
He’s that fucking fast. That’s why he is one of the best rhythm guitarists in metal…

Line 6 fucking sucks. Get a Mesa. Any Mesa will do. They definitely make bullet-proof power amps (if you can, I highly recommend a 50/50), which gives you the option of shopping for a preamp and really making it yours. Also an multi-band EQ will help to really dial in your tone. It’s much better to go rack-mount than just buy a stand-alone amp and a foot pedal. If you’re serious about playing, spending a little to build a decent rig is paramount =)

To the dude below (silverchair420) Actually Metallica plays with a ton of midrange, and if you’re a guitar player, you should too! Midrange is what enables the guitar to “cut ” through like it’s supposed too…not hide in the mix with the mids scooped.

Not an elitist. But it’s a totally different dynamic. Downpicking is a more aggressive/powerful attack on the string. Hence, it DOES sound different than alternate picking.
And comparing Death to Metallica is apples and oranges, dude–two completely different genres. Death’s tempos were generally faster than Metallica’s, and mostly utilized alternate and sweep styles. Plus, obviously, Schuldiner’s notations were FAR more technical.
Chuck was a true musician and is sorely missed.

[..YouTube..] @PoisonWazTheCure perhaps you have misunderstood what they say, he is an awesome down picker and plays really fast that (just try to play along to a live recording of master of puppets) but he obviusly has to do some alternate picking when it comes to doing triplets or galloping, otherwise would be impossible to do so
