[..YouTube..] Drop D is when you drop your 6th string and only the 6th string. He clearly is hitting natural power chords :14 thru :40, and not barring like you would in Drop tuning. Man, learn guitar fuckin poser.
[..YouTube..] my god dumbass saying its drop D, must not play guitar or he’d notice he wasnt putting one fucking finger on the string to make a barre chord… and I guess It wasn’t clicking with Dime when the guy asked on that video, but all it is is DGCFAD tuning BUT its tuned to 430hz instead of 440hz, thats why its heavier sounding, so there is a tip for those who didnt know his tuning.. and when he’s in E standard, its still tuned to 430hz.

Then a couple where it’s a whole step flat and the low E string is tuned down to G flat so the E and A strings are an ocatave. Also a couple songs are a whole step flat then dropped D (or whats like dropped D). I think Drag the Waters is 1 1/2 steps

Also I didn’t know he tuned standard and half step down slightly flat, I only knew about whole step. I’m going to try that out. I don’t know why people talk shit about dropped D anyway, for some songs it works.

[..YouTube..] True, it’s hard to tell people how to tune it so differently. In a way it is C# only it’s like C# and 1/4 step up, or 1 whole step & 1/4 down. I can’t think of any other guitar players that tune like that, although I’m sure there must be some. I do notice that a lot of tablature is wrong, most often if it’s wrong it is the right notes or chords only using different strings to play them. So they are right, but technically wrong at the same time.
Dime was 40 cents down from E Standard on Cowboys and Vulgar except for the Drop D or D Standard tunes (I dont know whether Dime used D standard or Drop D to play them, this video indicates he played them in D standard).
the later stuff was in the lower tunings.. but to me Vulgar is brutal and thats in E Standard..

Then a couple where it’s a whole step flat and the low E string is tuned down to G flat so the E and A strings are an ocatave. I think on CFH it was dropped D because Medicine Man is and he probably used the same guitar for both songs, plus it’s kind of easier to play PCS in dropped D, but Walk and most other songs are dumb to play in dropped D. Also I didn’t know he tuned standard and half step down slightly flat, I only knew about whole step. I’m going to try that out. I don’t know why people talk shit about dropped D anyway, for some songs it works.
[..YouTube..] yea with the whole tuning thing, thats why it dont sound right alot of the times people play it, just tune normally except put it in 430hz and tada, Pantera sound all the way, tabs used got me confused before i knew that cause they would say Floods was C# when it was the exact same tuning as walk, and he really only fully dropped his tuning for songs like walk im sure is for bigger vibrato like the solo in Hard Lines, and you cant do the fake echo right on drop D cause its too far down the neck.
[..YouTube..] True, it’s hard to tell people how to tune it so differently. In a way it is C# only it’s like C# and 1/4 step up, or 1 whole step & 1/4 down. I can’t think of any other guitar players that tune like that, although I’m sure there must be some. I do notice that a lot of tablature is wrong, most often if it’s wrong it is the right notes or chords only using different strings to play them. So they are right, but technically wrong at the same time.

Dime was 40 cents down from E Standard on Cowboys and Vulgar except for the Drop D or D Standard tunes (I dont know whether Dime used D standard or Drop D to play them, this video indicates he played them in D standard).
the later stuff was in the lower tunings.. but to me Vulgar is brutal and thats in E Standard..

The rest of the albums when it’s a whole step down it’s 430, which is kind of like 1 1/4 steps down if set to 440 hertz. It may be 430 hertz for the other tunings too on the later albums like any half step and standard songs, not sure.
